Progress Time Again!

I'm actually going to go through and EXPLAIN how I put the Head piece together for Gwendolyn.

Step 1. Cut out the proper shape from tagboard, cut darts (where they will come together) in the proper places, and tape to form a 3d shape.

Step 2. Papier mache the hell outta that shit. I seriously did about 5 layers. It's light, it's cheap, and it's easy.

Step 3. Finish the inside curve with black paint. Never EVER leave anything unfinished. EVER. Let it dry, and you'll be chill.

Step 4. Cut out all the feathers you need.

Step 5. Start from the back of the wing, and work your way forward and up using hot glue. Be careful!

Step 6. Repeat until finished! Stand back and gaze upon it in glee.

Just to Keep Up

Hello there!

Just keeping you updated a little bit on everything.

Cosplay wise:

I have begun the layout for Darling Jeffy's Emil Castagnier costume. I am going to at least get the bulk of the top done before moving on to Gwendolyn.

Weight wise:

This week was a stand-still week for me. No gain, no loss.

Voice wise:

Still waiting on updates from the lovely ladies over at The Taffetas!

Until next time!

Tutorial Time!

So,  I knew this wasn't going to be an easy venture with Sailor Jupiter. I went into this project with an open mind and a willingness to do whatever I need to make it work.

Let's begin with this:

"How did you make your leotard? Did you buy it?"

No, I did not buy it. I made it. I drafted my own pattern for it too. It's really quite simple. The method i used is easily imitated, and can be done with stuff you find in your own dresser.

1. Find a nice, close fitting tank top, and either bathing suit bottoms or a pair of bikini style underwear.
2. Lay out your fabric, fold it in half, and smooth out any wrinkles.
3. Lay the tank top and bottoms. Line them up so that they look like a bathing suit.
4. Trace, leaving 1/4 inch seam allowance.
5. Pin and sew. I am using an invisible zipper at one of the two side seams. Now is when you would want to do that.
6. Finish edges, turn right side out, and try it on.

"Why not just trace a regular bathing suit?"

I find that because bathing suits stretch, a lot, they aren't as accurate as the method I listed above.

On to the skirt!

I am currently in the process of making the skirt for Jupiter, figuring out a good way to attach everything, and still keep it simple to put on.

From what I've seen other people do, It seems that they plan on having the hip roll and skirt completely removable.

Good plan.

SO here's what I intend to do:

1. Hem material
2. Pleat the skirt.
3. Sew accordingly
4. Create a second underskirt of the same colored fabric for extra volume and coverage.
5. Attach both skirts to a waistband, with the center seam being the dip in the "V" of the skirt.
6. Turn the waistband into a half elastic waistband, keeping it easy to put on.
7. Attach the hip roll with coordinating snaps and hooks.

We shall see if this actually works!

Happy costuming!

And The Doors Are Opening!

I have the most amazing news.

Earlier this week, I submitted my voice acting demo reel (Found here) to the lovely people over here in charge of The Taffetas. They are submitting a pitch of the show to Warner Brothers.

Check out their blog, and support them.

They have asked me to voice one of their minor male roles, based on my demo reel.

I do not yet know the extent of this role, but I am excited for it none the less.

In other news, I've lost an additional 4 pounds, adding to a grand total of 9 pounds!

I'll be sure to keep updating!

Rukia, Rin, Renji, and extra females - Uppcon X : Post process. trying to get rid of echo.

Family Matters

Just to start: I've lost 5 lbs this week! woo hoo! Weight watchers, you and I are getting along swimmingly.

Well, this starts the weekend I spend with my little sister in her dorm room.

Her roomie is pretty cool. Watching the game with them. I'm not too intrested in football, but it's cool.

I made them some really really REALLY amazing stir fry. So i'm sure they want me to come back.

Anyway, I got some of the leotard for Jupiter done today. :p

It's looking good. I can't wait!

Weekly issue:
Omg cheeseburgers…how i miss you… My one true weakness is cheeseburgers from Checker's (a.k.a. Rally's)

Cosplay update:

I have started on the bodice for Gwendolyn, once I get it sewn, I'll post pics!
Aaaaaaand I have decided to cosplay as Sailor Jupiter this summer. So I'm using that as a motivation to get my butt in gear.

Time to Work it Off!

Alright! it's time to start getting this weight off!

Main target areas: Stomach, thighs, and upper arms.

My goal: Lose 4 dress sizes (I want to be a size 8-9) and firm up my arms. I just really want to be a lot healthier than I am right now. Over the past year I have let myself go due to stress, and I'm sick of not loving what I see in the mirror.

What is my plan, you ask? Well, I'm going to start by cutting out all fried foods (EX: fast food, chinese food, and the ever delicious mozzarella sticks.) as well as sodas, sweet tea, and artificial, sweetened juices. By doing this I should cut a lot of calories out already. My portions are going to be smaller, and I'm going to be eating lots more grapes, apples, and bananas.

Right now I weigh an absolutely AWFUL 211 lbs. Being only 5'3" and 19 years old, I am truly concerned for my health. Let's kick this thing in the ass!

Getting Back In The Swing

It's October now. The easiest month to find cosplay supplies for decent prices.

And I think I have decided on my two cosplays for this summer.

Both very beautiful girls, both from a video game that I adore. I give you, two lovely ladies from the Atlas and Vanillaware game Odin Sphere.

Gwendolyn:
Velvet:

First off, I am going to attempt to re-build my Gwendolyn dress that burned up in my house fire. I loved that dress, and it didn't look bad on me. Posted below is the only surviving picture I have of my first attempt. Looking back, I already have new ideas on how to fix it and make it look better and more form fitting.

Luckily I had most of my steps saved on my DeviantArt account, so it shouldn't
t take me too too long to re-settle.

ALSO... I'm starting a workout and diet regiment. I have 40 weeks to lose 65 lbs. I think I can do this.

Anyway, will update this later.

Voices All Around!

Well, this has definitely been an arduous battle...

With the initial posting of the cast list for a project i auditioned for, I was given the role of Erik, But on the update, they had cut me.

After much research...THEY HAD SWITCHED MY EMAIL WITH SOMEONE ELSE'S BY MISTAKE

So all of this aside, this is my first role as a VA, and I hope it goes well!

Once I get the information for the project website, I'll post it here.

Other than that, goodnight all1

Let's Get Started

Alright, let's get these simple introductions out of the way now:

A Bit About Me:

My name is Korynn Warthen and I'm  sophomore in college. I attend the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. I'm a double major, Media studies, as well as Graphic design, and my career aspirations lay in the advertising field.

I have been sewing, cosplaying, and creating for almost 5 years now. And I've just started getting better at it. I have also started to dabble in the art of amateur voice acting. Hopefully these get off the ground soon.

Now Something About This Blog:
Ever since April, when my family's house burned down, I have been trying to gather up all of the cosplays and art pieces that I had. All of my cosplays were hand made, and my art was very dear to me.

This blog will be dedicated to logging the processes of creating new works, new cosplays, as well as storing the tips and processes used for my old cosplays.

I had stored the entire process of one of my cosplay projects on another site, and that will be the first official "Cosplay entry".

What this blog will also serve as, is a means of cataloging my voice acting hobby, posting character demos, and keeping my resume up to date.

I am sharing all of this on the off chance that someone stumbling past might find any bit of this useful.

That's enough for introductions, I would think.

Until next time!
